Reach For The Stars… Or Those Back Toes
The Eka Pada Rajakapotasana family (aka, holding my big toe over my head) is varied, colorful, fun but, often times, unaccessible depending on our shoulder range, back flexibility or thigh openness. In this class we’ll work on a number of variations, poses, exercises with or without props, to help us feel the adequate opening without much fuzz. Holding those back toes (or further) is a perfectly doable goal if we practice consistently and mindfully. Let’s reach for the stars and back and find some nice surprises along the way. Come with an open mind, ready for some realignment and a desire to see what happens…

Fearless Inversions
Going upside is scary, thrilling, frustrating… it requires technique, consistent practice and attention to detail in order to balance freely. I believe anyone has the ability to balance on their hands, forearms and head when given enough attention to these poses. Whether you’re starting to discover this family, you want to venture away from the wall but you’re too scared or you want to gain more control in your ‘press ups’ or transitioning in and out of them, this class will be filled with exercises, techniques, tips and much more to help you get ahead and beyond. Gain strength, knowledge, confidence and have a great time in the process. Let’s take flight, shall we?

Hip Freedom And Taking Flight With It
Recipe for a perfect hip opener and straightening practice: 1/3 hip flexibility, 1/3 arm balances and leg activation, 1/3 of breath work. Add a splash of visualizations here and there and you got yourself a most fun and engaging 2hr workshop. We’ll build up equally our suppleness expertise to increase our strengthening one and vice versa. One set of skills will lean on the other so they’ll both improve considerably. Come ready to do some funky arm balances as your hips and legs will take a number of shapes you might have never tried. Gain wider range as a result of that too. Detoxify, unlock, have fun and leave renovated as energy will run through your body more freely.


Sunday, Oct 1st, 10:00 – 11:45a.m

Hamstrings And The Limitless Leg Power
Open the cap and uncover the enormous amount of energy stored in your legs. Learn to see and use them as the best helper. In every pose, from the obvious standing poses to inversions or arm balances, the legs have so much entity and presence that, single handedly, they can decided the fate of our asanas more so than any other body part. If you have tight hamstrings, thighs, knee/ankle issues, this class IS for you. If you can fall asleep in Splits, this class is ALSO for you. We’ll study lots of stretches, ways to work with them to gain flexibility/mobility. We’ll also start to tap into their vast potential, planting some seeds so our practice can grow from there.



10:00am-11:45am: YOGA CLASS
Morning yoga class with Carmen to set the theme for the day.

The sequence of the poses in the class is the most powerful tool the yoga teacher has to make a yoga class to be memorable. During this training we will cover these topics:
– Themes, sub-themes and peak poses
– Correct structure of a yoga class
– Practical exercises and discussion

During this module we will work on learning the different hands on adjustments for all the poses in the morning class. We will discuss adjusting principles, what students to engage, how to modify the adjustment depending on the student’s ability, timing, body position, engagement and delivery. We will continually switch partners to practice with different body types and learn about the differences.

Tentative Schedule
2:00-2:30pm – Adjusting principles and theory
2:30-3:00pm – Binds and basic seated poses
3:00-3:30pm – Basic Backbend adjustments
3:30-3:45pm – Break
3:45-4:30pm – Basic Hip openers and Forward Bends
4:30-5:15pm – Basic arm balances
5:15-6:00pm – Inversions



E-RYT 200 (@cyogalab), had completed an Engineering degree and then a Masters degree, spoke 4 languages and was deciding in what direction to launch her career when she found yoga. A seemingly crazy choice at the time, she dropped everything and devoted all her energies to the study of this discipline. The deeper she got into it the more it fascinated her.
During the first years she studied with every teacher she could find, traveling wherever was necessary, completed 5 different Teacher Trainings while she started to develop her own style and her daily practice. Devoting to it 3 hours, 7 days a week, she has been able to reach levels few practitioners share. However, her strength is not in her practice but in her teaching. She has been teaching yoga for more than 16 years and during that time she’s developed a unique teaching style, cYoga, intended to make her students achieve their best both physically and mentally.

In her own words: ‘cYoga came from a craving for an intense practice: my mind wanted to try things my body couldn’t follow but pretty soon I realized how much sequencing and warming up properly affected the outcome, so I wouldn’t injure and could practice easily on a daily basis. An intense asana practice is not only cleansing and rejuvenating, but it can also change our beliefs and the way we’re wired. Our body is the most tangible vehicle to access our very own essence. Stepping on our mat is an amazing and precious experience every single time! With cYoga I intend to provide each student with that kind of practice.’

In March 2010, she was inspired to open her own yoga studio (The Lab) in Chicago, where she resides today with her husband Moises, to continue to share her yoga journey with others.
